General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: 14-19mm.
Foodplant(s): ragworts (Senecio spp.), plantains (Plantago spp.), Heather (Calluna vulgaris), Spindle (Euonymus europaeus), Broom (Cytisus scoparius), herbaceous plants
Flying: Two generations, mid April-June and mid July-early September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Not endangered

Habitat

Open downland, heathland, woodland and sand-dunes.
