General Information

This species feeds at sallow catkins and blackthorn flowers.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 15-19mm.
Foodplant(s): willows (Salix spp.), Black Poplar (Populus nigra), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Bog-myrtle (Myrica gale), Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), Purple-loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), Common Fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, April-May
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Not endangered

Habitat

Marshes, damp woodland, fens, heathland.

Recorded in 1 (0.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Baden-Württemberg.
