General Information

Pupates in leaf litter, in moss or at the base of a tree.

Overwinters as a pupa.
Male comes to light occasionally. Female not.

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Hazel (Corylus avellana), birches (Betula spp.), Beech (Fagus sylvatica), oaks (Quercus spp.), Field Maple (Acer campestre), Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), broadleaved trees
Flying: Two generations, April-mid June and late July-early September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Not endangered

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland and scrub.
