Although sparrowhawks are regular visitors to our garden, they've not previously had much hunting success with the birds around our bird table. Well today, one of our blackbirds was unfortunate.
Apologies for yet another month of few diary entries.
Today on our Sunday run we spotted the remains of an unfortunate great spotted woodpecker. We presume this was the result of a sparrowhawk attack.
We've had some trees cut down in the garden this week and we've dated nearly all of them between 36 to 46 years ago - from around the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s. Most of them had either fallen or were getting dangerous.
