Late in the afternoon, a murder of about 100 carrion crows flew over the house away from town.

One of the cormorants that have been flying up and down the valley for the past couple of weeks was successfully hunting in the pond today.

Unfortunately, the increased bird activity on our bird feeders has caught the eye of this sparrowhawk who was biding his time on our gate archway (photos taken through a window, so a bit blurry).

This great white egret has been flying up and down the valley for the past few days. Now that the pond has melted, he landed near us and stayed a while - allowing me to get some photos for the first time.
